Technology

  • 4D Ultrasound - 4D Ultrasound produces 4D images of the baby inside the mother’s womb, and it also provides multi-dimensional pictures of internal organs.
  • Digital Mammography - enables physicians to see suspicious breast lesions in great detail and store data on computerized files instead of traditional films, which result in image magnification, fewer call backs and fewer film deliveries. Patients also benefit from reduced radiation dose exposure. And, the new paddle design reduces discomfort.
  • Breast MRI - Aiding in the fight against breast cancer, CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial introduces technology that battles the disease with confidence. The Sentinelle Vanguard® breast MRI coil is an advanced Breast MRI system that helps physicians confidently detect, diagnose and accurately perform biopsies for breast cancer patients.
  • Bone Density - A bone mineral density test is a non-invasive and painless method to determine your bone health. Doctors use a bone density test to identify osteoporosis, determine your risk for fractures and monitor response to osteoporosis treatment. Post-menopausal women over the age of 65 are recommended to have a bone density test.
  • Pediatric Echocardiograms - With the only technology and certified staff between Houston and Tyler, our sonographers can detect cardiac abnormalities, including murmurs, in children from birth to adolescents. The scan is reviewed by Pediatric Heart Specialists in Dallas and results are returned to the primary care provider in less than 24 hours.
  • Robotic Hysterectomy- It is being called a breakthrough approach to hysterectomies. Advanced technology that is being used at CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial Lufkin is setting a new standard in this type of gynecological procedure. Utilizing the da Vinci High Definition Robot, surgeons now are performing hysterectomies with fewer complications and a quicker recovery time for the patient. Get more information about robotic hysterectomies and to learn what local surgeons are utilizing the new technology.

Security

  • Each baby born in our center receive an electronic ankle bracelet for security purposes. The bracelet works through sensors at all exits assuring that the baby cannot leave the area undetected. The center also features secured doors, security cameras and instant staff alerts.

Healthy Tips for Expectant Mothers

Breast and Cervical Cancer screenings

Women’s Special Services at CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial provides low-income women with Breast and Cervical Cancer screenings through Texas Breast & Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS), a federal program administered through the Texas Department of State Health Services. CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial has provided this service to low-income women in the community for approximately 18 years. Eleven surrounding counties benefit from BCCS, and the CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial staff also travels to Livingston and San Augustine to screen women.

The program provides free clinical breast exams and mammograms to women 50 and older who do not have Medicaid, Medicare or insurance and who meet the financial requirements. Free pelvic exams and pap smears are also provided to women 21 to 64 years old and who meet financial requirements. If an abnormal result occurs, BCCS pays for required diagnostic testing, including breast and cervical biopsies. If the biopsy confirms a cancer diagnosis, the woman is placed on Medicaid for Breast and Cervical Cancer. (The woman must have a qualifying diagnosis and meet the financial eligibility requirements.) This beneficial program enables women with low incomes in the community to have access to screening and treatment. Get more information, or call 936-639-7066 for a 2-minute screening for eligibility and to schedule an appointment.
