The 12-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit within the Lufkin hospital includes intensive therapy for three hours a day, five days a week. Individualized assessment, diagnosis and treatment is provided within the rehabilitation unit that includes a large gym area located on the first floor of the hospital.

The rehabilitation unit team consists of highly skilled clinicians from a variety of fields who work together to meet our patients’ needs.
Medical Director Jennifer Kalmer, M.D. is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists working with patients and families to help restore maximum level of function
24-hour nursing care, seven days a week
Access to a case manager to assist with social and discharge needs
Dieticians assist with dietary needs to help with recovery
Upon referral, a screening process will be conducted that involves evaluation and review to determine appropriateness for admission to the unit. Upon admission, patients and families are provided orientation and made aware of activities such as weekly Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, family/caregiver training sessions, and family conferences.
